After an encouraging 12 week ultrasound January 4th we finally felt in the safe zone and began to accept we were going to be parents! I finally bought a few pregnancy books, and accepted the fact the hair elastic jean-fastener was only going to last so long on my pants. I wanted some belly covering, muffin top minimizing MATERNITY PANTS!
Depending on the seasons you will be pregnant in may mean you have a lot more of either jeans, or dresses. This post focuses on 3 staple pieces, that no matter the seasons you’re expecting through – these will be in top rotation, and I bet also get great use after baby arrives!
These were the most used items for me during our pregnancy January until late August. I recommend a comfy, loungy- pair of joggers, a workout crop, and an everyday all-purpose black tight.

In only a few words: Fit like a glove! They are so comfy, and move wherever you do – I think Cirque du Soleil gymnasts would use these! They let your body move wherever, and look sleek too.

Fabric/Care: CAREFUL! This was the only drawback – but if you don’t mind caring a little extra – they are going to look great for a long time. The care is machine wash cold, lay flat to dry and do not use fabric softener. If you decide to wash them in the same load as jeans, or other rougher items – watch out for pilling, and a little bit of wear. They do like to catch fuzz from blankets, or pet hair but it’s nothing a little lint roller can’t fix, and they are just . . . soooo comfortable.

Best Maternity Workout Crop
In only a few words: These were the most expensive, BUT man did they earn their keep! To feel great during spin, yoga, walks, weight workouts was the best. They have the perfect amount of support that also accentuate and smooth your curves. The sweat wicking material was comfortable and best of all, no problems with rolling down waistbands!

These were lovely for wearing around the house, however I would not recommend day long adventures in them. I found the band rolls down and I spend more time pulling them up, worrying about my belly showing than enjoying what I went out to do. ALSO – do NOT SPIN in your Lulu Align pants. I did this once and was left with holes in them on both inner thighs!! Thankfully and honourably – Lululemon exchanged them for me, no questions asked!

Wrapping it up
A comfy pregnant lady is a happy pregnant lady! Initially I really wanted to avoid buying too much maternity wear that would only ‘serve me for 9 months’. BUT I realized soon after that those pants will also help with the 4th trimester too, and be around for the next baby too. So – if I had to do it again . . . these 3 items (jogger, workout capri, and all-purpose tight) I would 100% invest in again! Happy shopping!
